When it comes to outdoor living, innovation and inspiration are at the heart of all we do. The AZEK Company is the industry-leading designer and manufacturer of beautiful, low maintenance and environmentally sustainable outdoor living products, including TimberTech® decking and Versatex® and AZEK Trim®. We use technology to create decking and railing for your backyard that looks like natural wood, but is more sustainable (i.e., made from up to 80% recycled material), longer lasting, and lower maintenance. As a company, we are deeply committed to making a lasting impact on the world by accelerating the use of recycled materials. And, now, we’re extending that commitment to the TimberTech Championship.
Now in its second year, the TimberTech Championship has made a commitment to make the 2021 event one of Zero Waste to Landfill. In 2020, the event generated 4.1 million pounds of recycled material, but part of the TimberTech philosophy is to ask, “How can we be better today than yesterday?” So we’re going big by going zero.
In conjunction with our FULL-CIRCLE recycling program, which takes scrap and waste and recycles it into beautiful, low maintenance and sustainable TimberTech decking, we’re collecting, transporting, cleaning, composting, repurposing and/or reusing nearly every possible output from the event. In other words, we’re thinking about the FULL-CIRCLE.
Here’s how we’re making zero waste a reality – and how you can help!
FULL-CIRCLE Plastic Bag Collection Drive and Raffle:
Bring us your own plastic bags (think grocery/shopping bags, and dry cleaner bags) for a chance to win a set of two Adirondack chairs, a matching side table – both made from recycled materials – and a TimberTech swag bag.* We’ll be displaying the chairs on the course throughout the week and announcing the raffle winners on each day of the tournament - Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We’ll be giving away a total of six sets of prizes (two on each day of the tournament), so there’ll be plenty of chances to win! Just look for our FULL-CIRCLE Recycling bins when you enter the course and you’ll be able to digitally enter the raffle by scanning a QR Code.
From Bite to Bin: We’re sourcing plant-based, compostable cutlery and will have composting bins placed throughout the course to eliminate food waste. On top of that, The Broken Sound Club has an industrial composter that we’ll use on-site. By using compost made from the event, we’ll be able to return organic matter and nutrients to the soil, and even grow wildflowers for the bees (there are 22 Beehives at the Broken Sound Club!).
We’re teaming up with on-site vendors and partners, as well as deploying our FULL-CIRCLE GREEN TEAM, to sort recycled material to ensure everything can be (re)used. If you’re interested in joining our team of volunteers, please click here.
At The AZEK Company, which manufactures TimberTech decking, sustainability is in our DNA, and we hope you’ll join us in building a more beautiful, more sustainable future.
*No purchase necessary. Open to TimberTech Championship ticket holders and attendees who enter the raffle between November 1, 2021 and November 7, 2021 and bring one or more recyclable plastic (polyethylene) bags. Six (6) prize winners will selected, two (2) each on November 5, 2021, November 6, 2021 and November 7, 2021, and notified via text. Product colors may vary. Prize must be picked up by November 15, 2021.
Thank you to our Sustainability Partner – Weyerhauser
Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world's largest private owners of timberlands, began operations in 1900. Our story starts in the forest. For more than 120 years, we’ve been growing, harvesting and regrowing forests on a continuous cycle. Our forests provide clean air and water, wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, renewable energy capacity, and a sustainable supply of wood for homes and countless products we all depend on every day. Our forests and mills also provide great jobs and support local economies in many rural areas across North America.
