When it comes to outdoor living, innovation, inspiration and sustainability are at the heart of all we do. The AZEK Company, parent company of TimberTech, is the industry-leading designer and manufacturer of beautiful, low maintenance and environmentally sustainable outdoor living products.. We use advanced technology and material science expertise to create wood-alternative decking, railing, and home exterior products that look like natural wood, but are more sustainable, longer lasting, and lower maintenance. As a company, we are deeply committed to making a lasting impact on the world by accelerating the use of recycled materials and reducing our environmental impact. Our commitment to creating a more sustainable future extends beyond the walls of our organization, which is why we committed to make the Timber Tech Championship a certified zero waste to landfill event — the first and only event in PGA Tour Champions History.
In 2021, our team developed a comprehensive event waste management plan for the TimberTech Championship to identify streams that could be repurposed, recycled, composted, donated and/or re-used, and worked with PGA TOUR Champions team and local Boca Raton partners to help us achieve our Zero Waste goal.
In conjunction with our FULL-CIRCLE recycling program, which takes scrap and waste and recycles it into beautiful, low maintenance and sustainable TimberTech decking, we worked with our many partners to collect, transport, clean, compost, repurpose and/or reuse nearly every possible output from the event.

From Bite to Bin:
The 2023 TimberTech Championship will be held in Boca Raton, Florida at the Broken Sound Club, an industry leader on sustainability initiatives and home to Florida’s first industrial composting program. Because we have access to a food digester on-site, we will source plant-based, compostable cutlery and have composting bins throughout the course to eliminate food waste. By using event compost, The Broken Sound Club will return organic matter and nutrients to the soil and grow wild flowers around the 22 beehives around the course.
2021 & 2022 Tournament Waste By the Numbers
To receive Zero Waste to Landfill certification in 2022, the TimberTech Championship went through a rigorous audit and assessment process, including an audit of all waste streams, inspection of all waste receptacles and assessment of all third-party waste management companies to confirm management methods and diversion rates. Additionally, Green Circle provided recommendations for improvement based on their findings. With your help in 2023, we look forward to further minimizing waste throughout the TimberTech championship.
Thank you to our 2021 Sustainability Partner - Weyerhauser
Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world's largest private owners of timberlands, began operations in 1900. Our story starts in the forest. For more than 120 years, we’ve been growing, harvesting and regrowing forests on a continuous cycle. Our forests provide clean air and water, wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, renewable energy capacity, and a sustainable supply of wood for homes and countless products we all depend on every day. Our forests and mills also provide great jobs and support local economies in many rural areas across North America.
